Ajax Sporting Director Edwin Van Der Sar has shown his admiration for Inter’s goalkeeping target Andre Onana who will be out of contract with Ajax in 2022, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with Tuttosport, Edwin Van Der Sar did not rule out the idea of Andre Onana moving to Inter but also did not confirm that it is happening.

“It’s hard to say, he is suspended until 3rd November. He’s a great goalkeeper for sure. We’ll see.”

The Cameroonian has been serving a doping violation ban which is the suspension that the ex-Manchester United goalkeeper is referring to. He will be out of contract with Ajax in just a few months and Inter seem best placed to sign him.

The Nerazzurri want him to replace Samir Handanovic as the club’s number one goalkeeper but they are not the only interested team.

Edwin Van Der Sar was also very complimentary of Italian football, particularly Atalanta’s journey under Gianpiero Gasperini over the last few years.

“Your football will always have a special charm. In recent years you have also had a beautiful reality like that of Gasperini’s Atalanta, which continues to amaze even in Europe.”
