Shakhtar Donetsk defender Serhiy Kryvstov believes that the Ukrainian team’s draw with Inter in the Champions League group stage was a logical result.

Speaking in a press conference as reported by FCInterNews, the 30-year-old also gave the view that the Nerazzurri’s next opponents Sheriff Tiraspol are not to be underestimated.

Inter currently sit joint bottom of their Champions League group level on points with Shakhtar, having drawn with the Ukrainian side while they lost their opening match to Real Madrid.

Shakhtar meanwhile lost their group stage opener to surprise group leader Sheriff, who also got a shock win against Real at the Bernabeu, and Kryvstov warned the Nerazzurri not to underestimate the Champions League new boys who have the quality to cause them problems.

Inter will know that they need to get results against the Moldovan champions if they want to get their efforts to qualify for the knockout rounds of Europe’s top competition back on track, something that neither Real nor Shakhtar have been able to do.

“I don’t think anyone expected it,” Kryvstov said of Shakhtar’s defeat at the hands of Sheriff. “If they had told us before the game that we would have lost points in Tiraspol, nobody would have believed it. We knew that Sheriff is a strong team with international squad, they have excellent players.”

“But in the Tiraspol match we didn’t manage to take our chances,” he reflected, “that’s why we lost. However, Sheriff are not to be underestimated; we have seen that they also beat Real Madrid.”

Kryvstov continued that “as far as the group stage is concerned, nothing has been decided yet. I think instead that the draw with Inter was logical, even if in the match against the Italians we were better.”
