Italian journalist Maurizi Compagnoni has suggested that Ivan Perisic may not perform particularly well in the striker role for Inter if he plays there on Saturday against Lazio, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Whilst speaking on Sky Sport 24 today, the journalist did point out that Ivan Perisic has played the role of second striker in the past, but has not done very well in that role when he has played it in Italy.

“Perisic is very well, in the past he had already been used as a second striker, even if here in Italy he has never shone in that role.”

He also discussed Inter boss Simone Inzaghi, and suggested that he is doing very well and the Nerazzurri’s points tally so far this season is impressive.

“I like him a lot. Great job, the 17 points are a lot.”

Inter have a very tough and decisive set of fixtures coming up over the next week as they first face Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. Then it is the Champions League match against FC Sheriff which is crucial, and then they face Juventus in Serie A.

“I am very curious to see Sheriff against Inter, so far it has been the sensational surprise of this start of the Champions League. Of course Lazio and Juve are two tough opponents, it will also depend on what Inter we see.

“The first 60 minutes against Sassuolo would do, great effort, the one after the four changes gave an impressive demonstration of strength.”
