Lautaro Martinez may be the starting striker alongside Edin Dzeko against Lazio despite many reports suggesting it will be Ivan Perisic, according to a report in the Italian media today.
As has been reported today by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the fact that the Argentine striker is expected to land back in Italy on Friday evening appears to have swayed Simone Inzaghi’s decision making.
He had looked set to keep Lautaro Martinez on the bench as he will have recently travelled, played for Argentina, and recovered from an injury scare.
That would have seen Ivan Perisic start upfront for the first time this season, as he is usually used as the left wing back.
Simone Inzaghi will be desperate not to lose to the team he left so suddenly during the summer to take the Inter job, so that is likely why he is doing all he can to make sure Lautaro Martinez is in the team.
