Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri has suggested that Inter could be the favourites to win the Serie A title again this season, according to a report in the Italian media today.
Speaking during his press conference ahead of the clash against Inter on Saturday, as reported by FCInter1908, the Lazio boss explained that he does not care about head to head records, just the two teams playing each other on the day.
“I believe zero in the history of direct clashes, it depends on the strength of the team training at that moment.
“Inzaghi did well, at the moment he is on an important bench, he could be the favourite for the championship. He made functional purchases, has lost very little of the lack of strength compared to last year.”
The ex-Chelsea and Juventus boss was also asked which individual duels on the pitch will be the most important tomorrow, to which he explained that he does not know which players he will choose, and he does not know who Simone Inzaghi will choose.
“I don’t even know who I will play, let alone Inter’s choices. I’m not interested in duels. I’m interested in that the men who make up this group have the right reaction, there will be moments of great difficulty, it’s part of the game and the strength of the opponent.”
Lazio suffered an extremely disappointing 3-0 defeat away at Bologna before the international break started and Maurizio Sarriwill be desperate for his team to bounce back with a win against one of the title contenders this season.
