Former Inter President Massimo Moratti has suggested that he is still assessing the new Inter under Simone Inzaghi before he judges them too harshly, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Whilst speaking on Radio Sei, Massimo Moratti explained that matches between Inter and Lazio often tend to be very entertaining and high scoring affairs.

“Lazio-Inter is usually a good match, apart from the bad memory of May 5. Not there have never been major controversies or hatred between the two clubs, Lazio has always had the tradition of good players like Inter. For these reasons we have always seen good football.”

He then went on to discuss the difference between Simone Inzaghi’s Inter and Antonio Conte’s Inter that won the Scudetto in the 2020/21 season.

“I don’t know if this Inter of Simone Inzaghi is stronger than that of last year. With Antonio Conte there was an army that won in strength and character, with Inzaghi there is a pleasant game that can help build a strong mentality.

“There is no longer Romelu Lukaku, but Edin Dzeko is a footballer of great class and quality.”

There is clearly a lot of praise from Massimo Moratti towards the current Lazio squad as he feels that Luis Alberto is a particularly strong player who can cause Inter issues during the match.

“I really like Luis Alberto from Lazio, he is a very strong player. But not only him, Lazio have a really good team, I expect great results. I am sure that if Maurizio Sarri succeeds in imposing his game, the fans will be able to really enjoy great satisfaction.”

The match on Saturday evening will be played at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome and will be the first time that Simone Inzaghi has faced Lazio since he left the club to join Inter in the summer transfer window.
