Gianluca Di Marzio Details How Inter Convinced Lazio To Sell Joaquin Correa This Summer

Inter signed Joaquin Correa late in the summer transfer window as they looked to reinforce their attack following the departure of Romelu Lukaku, but they needed to persuade Lazio to part with the player.

This is detailed by Gianluca Di Marzio on his site Grand Hotel Calciomercato, where he explains how an extra €1 million being added to the offer for the Argentine was sufficient to convince Biancocelesti President Claudio Lotito.

Lotito and Lazio had wanted to extract as much value as they possible could from the sale of Correa, who was one of their most valuable assets on the market, and so they were not easy to persuade when Inter moved for the Argentine.

Lazio had resisted the Nerazzurri’s initial offers, but part of their resistance came from the add-ons owed to Correa’s former clubs Estudiantes and River Plate as fees for helping to develop the player.

In the end, the Nerazzurri worked, through the player’s agent Alessandro Lucci, to work out an arrangement which would see them pay the add-ons to Correa’s former clubs, and added €1 million to their €30 million offer, and this was enough to get a deal over the line for the player.
