Lazio defender has explained what had happened in a controversial incident after the Biancocelesti defeated Inter 3-1 at the Stadio Olimpico.

Speaking to DAZN after the Serie A clash, the Spaniard explained that his teammate Luiz Felipe had meant to joke around with Inter forward Joaquin Correa but that the intent had been misconstrued, causing him to be sent off.

The atmosphere between the two sides had become fractious after the Biancocelesti’s second goal, in which the Nerazzurri became angry at the fact that Lazio did not play the ball out despite Federico Dimarco looking to be down hurt.

The last minutes of the match and the immediate scenes afterwards had been tense, and Felipe jumped on the back of former teammate Correa as though he were celebrating with him despite the fact that Correa’s Inter team had just fallen to defeat.

Patric believes that nothing malicious was meant by the action but that it hadn’t went over well and caused his teammate to get sent off and sour an otherwise positive night for the Biancocelesti.

“I hope that my teammates will be available again immediately,” he reflected. “I’m not happy because they are now out, I always try to give my best.”

Of the incident with Felipe and Correa he stated, “The three of us are friends. Both were wrong, Luiz Felipe had to understand that Tucu had lost. I understand his reaction, I also feel guilty because I told him to go to him to cheer him up. A real shame that Felipe will miss the game, now the two of them will have to clear things up.”
