Inter forward Joaquin Correa does not want to dwell on the post-match incident which saw Lazio defender Luiz Felipe handed a red card.

Writing on his Instagram story, as reported by FCInterNews, the Argentine explained that his friend and former teammate had made a bad decision but that he hopes to move on from the incident.

The clash between Inter and Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico had been fractious, with both sets of players arguing after the Nerazzurri took issue with the nature of the Biancocelesti’s second goal.

After the match was finished, Felipe came over to Correa and jumped on his back as though celebrating, which Correa appeared to be annoyed by.

Felipe later explained that he’d meant it as a joke to cheer up the Argentine, with whom he had spent three seasons together at Lazio, but that it had went over badly, and Correa also wants to leave the incident in the past.

“I’m sorry for what happened yesterday from all points of view,” he wrote. “First of all for the football fans, to whom we should be a positive example. Surely my friend Luiz made a mistake with the gesture and in the moment, then in the heat of my reaction was bad.”

He went on, “I wish it had never happened. But now let’s turn the page and let’s all go on. Head to the next match with Inter and the next challenges. I want to make the fans cheer for the good things in football.”
