Inter failed to take points from a match against Lazio that they will want to put behind them, but more than the result it is the chaotic scenes at the end of the match that will endure in the memory.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who highlight the confrontations between players and suggest that the Nerazzurri lost their heads after a match in which they had looked in control for long periods.

Inter raced to an early lead through a first-half Ivan Perisic penalty before the Bianconeri equalized with a penalty of their own in the second half, but it was the second Lazio goal which sparked controversy.

Lazio winger Felipe Anderson looked to be clearly aware of the presence of Inter defender Federico Dimarco who was on the ground while he played the counterattack and then celebrated the finish for the Bianconeri’s winning goal.

Inter’s players took umbrage to the Brazilian’s decision not to put the ball out of play in view of Dimarco being on the ground, though the player stated in the post-match interview that he felt he was always a sporting player.

Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi conceded that the referee had no reason to stop the game during the incident, while Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri defended his players while also suggesting that he had tried to get them to stop play.

At the end of the match, Inter had sustained their first Serie A defeat of the season, but also looked to have lost their heads as they clashed with Lazio players in the outrage following Anderson’s goal, and could not recover mentally in order to take control of the game back.
