Midfielder Marcelo Brozovic was a standout performer for Inter against Lazio despite being on the losing side, while Simone Inzaghi did not get his substitutions right and the defenders were not good enough.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who give the Croat a solid 7/10 score in their player ratings for yesterday’s match, while the defenders and the coach are singled out for criticism.

Brozovic showed why he is viewed as an important player for the Nerazzurri, barely putting a foot wrong and displaying his range of passing to keep his team in a midfield battle with the Biancocelesti’s excellent central trio singlehandedly at times.

Meanwhile, Inzaghi was criticized for his approach which saw control of the match slip away after he made his second-half changes, with a 5.5/10 grade all that the former Lazio coach earned.

In the case of the defenders, Stefan de Vrij was deemed to be marginally better than his comrades, receiving a 5.5/10 score compared to the 5/10 grades of Mirlan Skriniar and Alessandro Bastoni, the latter deemed to be the worst of the trio.

Striker Edin Dzeko was also unable to earn more than a 5/10 score for a display in which he looked only sporadically able to affect the game and never close to extending his scoring start in Serie A.
