Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu is the favourite to start in midfield against Sheriff Tiraspol this evening ahead of Arturo Vidal and Matias Vecino.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the Turkish midfielder is the likeliest candidate to be selected by Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi for the crucial clash.

Calhanoglu was only able to appear from the bench in the Nerazzurri’s loss to Lazio on Saturday, while Vecino was also only ready for a substitute thanks to his late return from international duty and Vidal was not even in the squad for the match.

The three are all in contention for the starting role against Sheriff, but it is the Turk who is the likeliest to start.

Meanwhile, the Gazzetta predicts that Inzaghi will continue to trust the likes of Ivan Perisic on the left and Matteo Darmian on the right ahead of Federico Dimarco and Denzel Dumfries respectively.
