Inter defender Milan Skriniar is aware that his team have had a problem with allowing goals this season, and that they must improve defensively.

Speaking in a press conference, as reported by FCInterNews, the Slovak defender stressed the importance of a balance between the attacking side of the game and keeping the opponent from being able to create many good chances.

Inter have had a formidable attack in Serie A but it looks to have come at the cost of some of their defensive compactness, as defensive lapses have meant that they have conceded in nearly every game so far in the competition.

In the Champions League it is the attack which has been the issue, with the Nerazzurri having failed to find the back of the net against either Shakhtar Donetsk or Real Madrid.

However, Skriniar still feels that it is the balance between attack and defense that must be found above all if the team are to improve their fortunes.

The defender spoke on the loss of Achraf Hakimi, stating that “Hakimi is very strong, we all know that. But also last year we played many games with Darmian and we feel good, as well as with Denzel. There is not much difference, I perform my role and we all try to help for good of the team.”

He acknowledged, “We are certainly conceding a lot of goals but that’s how Inzaghi’s teams are. We have to find the balance in attack and defense, if you don’t concede there is a better chance of winning. We score a lot of goals, we are not happy and we have to improve.”

On his goals from corners so far this season the 26-year-old stated, “We have very good set piece takers who deliver very well, I’m happy to find some balls in the box. I hope to score a few more goals.”

On whether there had been a team discussion of the importance of going forward in the Champions League Skriniar explained, “In my opinion it was not even needed, even the new players know that we want to move forward in the Champions League.”

He stated, “In my opinion it was not necessary, we all know what it means to play for Inter and what it means to play in the Champions League. We have to concentrate on tomorrow’s match.”

Lastly, on whether it is more difficult to play around the time of the international break, he stated that “I don’t think it’s more difficult. Surely there are a lot of games but if you play for a big team like Inter there are the Champions League, the league, all great competitions and you want to move forward. We have strong players and we are happy with how we are playing the competitions.:
