The Lazio fan who was recorded making racist chants at Inter wing-back Denzel Dumfries could face a lifetime ban from football stadiums for his actions.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the culprit of the racist abuse should be identified and could be subject to a ban from stadiums based on the DASPO legislation in Italy.

The issue of racist abuse from fans has once again come to the fore in Italian football, with the likes of Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly and Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan among those to have spoken out about the issue.

Saturday’s clash at the Stadio Olimpico provided yet another unfortunate example, with a fan seen making derogatory taunts at Dumfries in video from the match.

It is expected that police can identify him based on his location and ticket records, and from this he could be subject to legal action including a lifetime ban from stadiums.
