Inter must show mental strength when they face Sheriff Tiraspol in the Champions League this evening, and avoid the lapses in composure seen against Lazio on the weekend.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who note that the Nerazzurri fell to defeat against the Biancocelesti partly because of this difficulty in handling adversity in the game.

Inter had looked to be in control for much of the first hour or so at the Stadio Olimpico, but after the Biancocelesti’s equalizer they began to look shaky, fully losing control once they fell behind.

Coach Simone Inzaghi acknowledged this after the match, stating that he was happy with his team’s performance for the better part of the match but that they had lost their heads and didn’t show the composure needed to get a result once the Biancocelesti were in the ascendancy.

Against Sheriff, this would cost the team dearly, as they will feel that only a win can put them in a good position to qualify for the knockout rounds of Europe’s top competition.

Sheriff have proved that they are a tough opponent, and Inter must show composure even when the match becomes tough for them.
