Italian journalist Riccardo Cucchi believes that Inter will face the task of breaking down a very solid defense when they face Sheriff Tiraspol in the Champions League this evening.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, the journalist gave the view that the Moldovan side have shown against Shakhtar Donetsk and Real Madrid that they can win games with their defensive strategy and that the Nerazzurri must find ways to unlock this.

Sheriff were not expected to have a good chance as Champions League debutants in a group containing three established European teams, but so far they have won both of their matches.

Inter will hope to be the first side who can beat the Moldovans, and will have to avoid the same problems which their Ukrainian and Spanish rivals came up against.

For Cucchi, the key thing will be recognizing that Sheriff are a good defensive side who tend to drop close to their own goal, and to find the right ways to open them up.

He explained, “Inter are the team that scores the most in the league, a stratospheric attack. Against Sheriff Inter will have to be careful because if Sheriff plays like they did against Real Madrid they will shut up shop and it will be very difficult to unlock this defense.”

“Thanks to this his way of playing they obtained an amazing result,” he said of Sheriff’s win over Real. “It will be interesting to understand how Simone will face this team devoted to defense, finding methods and solutions to try to break them while avoiding their dangerous counterattacks. It will be interesting to see the tactical evolution of Inter.”
