Inter finally recorded a win in the Champions League again after defeating FC Sheriff Tiraspol 3-1 at home at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

The Nerazzurri broke the deadlock thanks to Edin Dzeko before FC Sheriff equalized in the second half. Shortly after Arturo Vidal gave Inter the lead before Stefan de Vrij made it 3-1.

Samir Handanovic – 5: Not much work for Samir until after Inter scored when he had to make his only save of the first half. Should be doing better on that free kick. Poor.

Milan Skriniar – 6.5:  Made his presence felt on both ends of the pitch. One bad positional mistake but Samir saved his blushes there. Much better 2nd half by Skriniar.

Stefan De Vrij – 6.5:  Stefan doesn’t look at his best. Throughout the game he was dragged out of position by Traore. Took the goal well and that will help his confidence.

Federico Dimarco – 6.5:  Federico was not tested defensively at all in the first half. His set pieces are always class, and he was very close to scoring his first European goal.

Denzel Dumfries – 5.5:  Denzel looks like he lacks a bit of confidence especially in front of goal. His defensive positioning still needs a lot of work but can’t fault his work rate.

Nicolo Barella – 6:  Continued his great run of form. When that final ball starts getting to its target more often than not, he will become a top 5 midfielder in the world.

Marcelo Brozovic – 6:  Another great game from Brozo. Controlled the center of the pitch and started a lot of moves. His movement is what makes Inters moves click.

Arturo Vidal – 7:  Got a lucky assist for the Dzeko goal. Helped Brozo a lot but raised his level after Sheriff equalized. Perhaps the best he’s played for Inter in Europe.

Ivan Perisic – 6.5:  Ivan is having his purple patch. Whenever he could he created quality chances and spaces for his teammates. Not much defensive work needed.

Edin Dzeko – 7.5:  Fantastic goal at a difficult point in the season. Always involved in the buildup play and got an all-important assist to keep Inter alive in the Champions League.

Lautaro Martinez – 6.5:  Couldn’t get involved at all in the first half as Sheriff seemed to double mark him. The second half was completely different, deserved a goal at least.

Alessandro Bastoni – 6:  Was brought on to help Inter play deeper and stop counters and did just that. Made a few important forays forward as well. Will be needed vs Juventus.

Alexis Sanchez – 5.5:  Alexis didn’t make the most of his 20 mins or so tonight. Looked rusty and out of form. Hopefully he dusts the cobwebs off as Inter will need his goals.

Roberto Gagliardini – 6.5:  Unlike Alexis, Roberto made an instant impact in the game. He helped Inter keep the ball and ran the channels. Created havoc with his movement.

Alexander Kolarov – N/A: A lot of people thought that Kolarov is now part of the coaching staff. This appearance was to prove them wrong. Decent 5 mins for the veteran.

Stefano Sensi – N/A:  Sensi looked hungry, confident, and played without fear in his eyes. Yes, it was only 8 mins or so but if he can stay injury free Simone can do wonders.

Simone Inzaghi – 5.5:  Got the starting lineup right but the tactics to keep attacking even when Inter were 1-0 up were baffling. Sorted it out when Inter went 3-1 up.

Danny Makkelie – 7.5: No major decisions to make. Did not even make a single mistake tonight. Great refereeing and no team can have any complaints. Made it look easy.

Inter – 7: Huge victory when it was needed. The confidence boost it might provide is also worth its weight in gold. Hopefully the defense can be sorted out.
