Inter’s Champions League clash with Sheriff Tiraspol will be played in front of a nearly maximum allowable capacity crowd, with 45,000 set to be in the San Siro to watch the match.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the tickets made available for the match have sold out in the first and second rings, which will make it the most highly-attended match in Italian football so far this season.

Fans have been allowed back in stadiums this season after more than a full year playing in front of empty stands due to the pandemic, and capacities have gradually been increased as epidemiological developments have allowed.

The 45,000 fans in attendance to watch the Nerazzurri play against Sheriff Tiraspol will be the highest attendance for a football match in Italy since fans have started being allowed back into stadiums, but this record will quickly be broken with 55,000 tickets already sold for Sunday’s clash with Juventus at the San Siro.
