Ex-Nerazzurri & Partenopei Midfielder Salvatore Bagni: “Inter Will Finish Second Behind Napoli”

Former Napoli and Inter midfielder Salvatore Bagni believes that the Nerazzurri will be able to finish second in Serie A, but not beat out the Partenopei for the Scudetto.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Tele A, the 65-year-old gave the view that the Nerazzurri would not be able to get the better of the current league leaders, but that they would finish ahead of city rivals AC Milan.

Inter suffered their first defeat in Serie A on Saturday when they travelled to the Stadio Olimpico to face Lazio, leaving them with seventeen points from their first 24 matches.

This is enough to maintain a spot in third, but they are five points behind the Rossoneri and seven behind the Partenopei who made it eight wins from eight with their 1-0 victory over Torino.

Bagni believes that the Nerazzurri will be able to make up the deficit on their city rivals, but that Napoli will prove too tough to catch in Inter’s pursuit of a second Scudetto.

“Simone Inzaghi’s Inter are doing well, they will finish second in the standings,” he said. “Now we see Milan getting great results in the league, they produced a good comeback against Verona. The Rossoneri were two goals down, but they had the strength to go on to win the game.”

He concluded, “I don’t change my mind about what I have said in the past. After seeing Napoli, Milan and Inter I say that the Azzurri will win the Scudetto, Inter will finish second, and behind them, Milan.”
