Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is happy with both the performance and the result after his team earned their first win in the Champions League this seasons with a 3-1 triumph over Sheriff Tiraspol.

Speaking to UEFA, the Nerazzurri boss praised his team’s performance in a match where only a win would do, although he acknowledged that there is still work that needs to be done.

Inter piled on the chances from virtually the first minute as they looked to make sure they got three points from Moldovan champions Sheriff.

The Moldovans came into the match confident after having beaten Shakhtar Donetsk and Real Madrid in their first two matches in the group, but they were unable to hold off a frenetic Nerazzurri performance.

Inzaghi saw his team score three goals in a match where they could have gotten more, and will be pleased to be off the mark in the Champions League with a win to take them to four points in the group.

“We created a dozen very significant chances,” the coach stated, “we hit the woodwork three times and scored three goals. I’m happy for the win, we know we have to work hard but tonight we enjoy this success.”
