Ex-Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar has suggested that Inter are not missing Romelu Lukaku because of Edin Dzeko’s positive form for the club, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Whilst speaking in the studios of Amazon Prime, as has been reported by FCInter1908, Julio Cesar explained that the Inter fans are happy with Edin Dzeko.

“The Inter fans are happy with Dzeko, they are not missing Lukaku.”

He also discussed Inter’s current goalkeeper, Samir Handanovic, who made another error that led to FC Sheriff getting back on level terms during the Champions League game on Tuesday night.

“Handanovic could do better? In my opinion yes, he knows because he is one of the strongest in the world. He missed a step.

“He has a lot of self-confidence for his height, I was smaller and I had to compensate for the lack of that and I was moving more. He remains in any case among the top five goalkeepers.”

Julio Cesar says that he was worried about the match against FC Sheriff because of how imperative it was for Inter to get all three points. He now has confidence that the Nerazzurri will progress from the group stage though.

“I was afraid of the Sheriff trap for Inter, because it was a team that had gone on to win at the Bernabeu with Real Madrid.

“In my opinion Inter will go through, I saw them against Real Madrid and they did very well. There is room for growth, but there is a new coach, a new philosophy, it takes time, they have to quickly understand what he wants to go through.”

Inter only took one point from their first two matches of the group stages so they had to beat FC Sheriff at San Siro to keep their hopes alive.
