Ex-Inter and Juventus midfielder Pietro Fanna has suggested that Inter are the favourites to win the clash between the two sides in Serie A on Sunday night, according to a report in the Italian media.

Whilst speaking to TMW ahead of the match, Pietro Fanna explained that both teams will be playing to win and the two teams know each other inside out.

“They are two teams playing to win and by now they know each other down to the smallest detail. Now perhaps Inter has something more.”

Inter have been struggling defensively in recent weeks and Pietro Fanna believes that this is the fault of both the midfield and the defence, rather than just the three centre backs.

“They concede a few goals, but the teams are devoted to attacking and there will be something to review: sometimes, however, it means that it is not simply the fault of the defence but that the midfield does not always support them.”

When asked if the match will be decisive for the title fight, Pietro Fanna explained that it is not because Napoli are playing so well.

“It is not decisive, however, because Napoli keeps winning and it is important not to lose ground.”

Judging the seasons that the two teams have had so far, Pietro Fanna explained that Juventus started very poorly but are starting to put a run of form together: “The Bianconeri started very badly, but now they are recovering, as it is in their DNA.”

Inter on the other hand have the challenge of retaining the Scudetto. Pietro Fanna said: “Inter having changed coaches have different motivations, they must try to get to repeat the Scudetto, which will not be easy, or in any case remain in the very early stages.

“This challenge is a classic one, if I go back in my memory I scored both at Juve and at Inter. When these two teams cross each other, the confrontation is always of a high level.”
