English football journalist Ben Jacobs has played down any immediate suggestions that the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund will be purchasing Inter, according to a report on social media.
As was tweeted in a reply to another user by Ben Jacobs, and as reported by FcINternews, there is no significant development in the story between PIF and Inter at the moment.
The main obstacles that were always there for the past year or so still are, and now that PIF have purchased Newcastle United in the Premier League that will be their immediate interest.
“There is no update. As already mentioned, the same obstacles remained in the last meeting between the parties and now that the deal with Newcastle is done, this will be the immediate goal of PIF.”
It seems very unlikely that the PIF would move swiftly to purchase Inter when they only purchased Newcastle United on October 7th.
They will also need Suning to lower their current asking price of €1 billion which PIF feel is prohibitive and not representative of the current financial state that the Nerazzurri are in, which is very unstable.
