Hellas Verona midfielder Daniel Bessa has heaped praise upon Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella after his excellent form over the past two seasons, according to a report in the Brazilian media.

Whilst speaking to the Brazilian website of ESPN, Daniel Bessa explained that the two played together in Serie B when Nicolo Barella still had a lot of improving to do, but he is happy to see that it has happened for him.

“One of the best second midfielders in Europe and we played together in Serie B.

“He was young and had to improve a lot, but he already had a definite footprint. It’s great to see him play so well.”

Daniel Bessa was an Inter player between 2012 and 2017 but he never actually made a senior appearance for the Nerazzurri.

He had a series of loan spells at teams like Bologna, Como, Sparta Rotterdam, and then Hellas Verona who he ended up signing permanently for in 2017.

He has featured four times in Serie this season for what is now Igor Tudor’s side and has managed to score one goal.

He will be hoping to play a part in helping the Gialloblu rise up the table.
