Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne has suggested that he could still end up signing a new contract with the club rather than moving to Inter, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking to Sky Sport after Napoli’s 3-0 win over Legia Warsaw in the Europa League on Thursday night, Lorenzo Insigne played down his contract situation.

He wanted to emphasise that he is concentrating on his work on the pitch and that his agent is handling everything else.

“On a contractual level they all know that my agent is in contact with Napoli, they are trying to keep me calm. I am concentrated on the pitch and I try to give the best performances possible.”

The Italian will be out of contract with Napoli in June 2022 and he was heavily linked with a move to Inter at the end of the summer transfer window.

These rumours gathered pace again in recent days because his agent was reportedly spotted arriving at Inter’s headquarters, leading many to suggest he was negotiating a transfer to Inter for Lorenzo Insigne.

It is very possible that he was there for other reasons, however.
