Inter are close to agreement on a new deal with midfielder Nicolo Barella, with the midfielder ready to sign a contract for five years once approval comes from the club’s owners.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that only the signature remains on a new deal worth €4.5 million net per season rising to €5 million with add-ons.

Barella’s current deal runs until the end of June 2024, but the club have been keen to extend him beyond this date amid interest from a number of top European clubs.

The Nerazzurri are now close to securing the player’s long-term future as discussions with his agent have produced an agreement on an extension which will take the player to 2026 and which will see his wages rise from the net €2.5 million per season he currently earns to €4.5 million plus performance-related add-ons, and which will not contain any release clause.
