Juventus coach Maz Allegri expects a tough game from Inter when his team travel to the San Siro to face the Nerazzurri tomorrow.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN ahead of the match, the Bianconeri coach praised the Nerazzurri’s attack and coach Simone Inzaghi, and also dismissed rumours that he had been close to a move to Inter before he re-joined the Bianconeri.

Allegri joined Juventus not long after Andrea Pirlo was sacked after only a season in charge, re-joining the club he had taken charge of for five years between 2014 and 2019.

The former AC Milan, Cagliari, and Sassuolo coach had also been linked with the Nerazzurri when Antonio Conte departed, and had been seen as one of the main candidates for the role before he went back to Juventus and the Nerazzurri instead appointed former Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi.

Allegri and Inzaghi will meet for the first time in more than two seasons and for the first time with Inzaghi in charge of the Nerazzurri, and the Bianconeri manager expects a significant clash.

“Inter have the strongest attack in the league,: he stated, “tomorrow it will be a game with an almost full stadium, there is great expectation and it is normal that this is the case.”

On the rumours that he had been close to the Nerazzurri Allegri stated, “Absolutely not. In two years I have heard everything, but in the end I’m happy to be back at Juventus.”

Regarding his opposite number for tomorrow’s match he stated that “He did a great job at Lazio, so much so that he is the one who has won the most after Juventus in recent years. It is deserved that he should a great team like Inter.”

“Tomorrow’s match is important for both of us,” he concluded, “it was crucial for us to beat Roma to stay hitched to the train and not lose confidence. When will we look at the standings? We’ll see in November, then at the end of February.”
