Legendary former Inter striker Samuel Eto’o believes that the Nerazzurri would do well to sign his fellow Cameroonian international Andre Onana.

Speaking to Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the 40-year-old praised the current Ajax keeper’s ability and suitability to a big club like Inter, while also giving his thoughts on the Nerazzurri’s current competitive strength.

Onana has been strongly linked with a move to Inter next summer, with the 25-year-old out of contract with the Dutch champions at the end of June 2022 and the Nerazzurri in search of a long-term successor to captain Samir Handanovic who will be 38 next summer.

Eto’o believes that such a move would work out well for both parties, and recommends that they find an agreement.

In anticipation of tomorrow’s Serie A clash with Juventus, he remembered his favourite match between the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri, naming “The 2-0 at the San Siro in 2010, the one in which Maicon and I scored.”

On tomorrow’s match he stated,”I hope it’s a good game and above all that Inter win! The Nerazzurri have a competitive team and an excellent coach – it seems to me that nothing is missing to continue winning titles.”

“The favourite I have can only be Inter,” he went on. “I say Handanovic, because having a strong goalkeeper is important to win trophies.”

On Onana he stated that “I would recommend Inter to Onana and Andre, a top club-quality goalkeeper, to the Nerazzurri directors.”

Comparing the two teams’ respective strikers Edin Dzeko and Alvaro Morata he stated, “High marks for both of them. I hope Dzeko wins because it would mean that Inter wins, but I have always appreciated Morata a lot.”

And with respect to the two Argentines Lautaro Martinez and Paulo Dybala Eto’o said that “Comparisons are always difficult. And then, frankly, Lautaro seems to me quite unique in terms of characteristics. With Dybala, his talent is not in question, he can make Juve history. But Messi is Messi, unique and inimitable.”
