Inter midfielder Arturo Vidal will be absent from the Nerazzurri’s Serie A clash with Juventus this evening at the San Siro due to illness.

This is confirmed by the club in a tweet, where they announce that the 34-year-old was experiencing flu-like symptoms earlier today and that he will not be able to be part of the squad to face the Bianconeri.

Vidal had been in contention to be selected for the match following his strong performance against Sheriff Tiraspol in the midweek Champions League match, but he will not even be able to be on the bench due to his illness.

It is not yet known whether or not the Chilean will be able to return in time for the clash with Empoli on Wednesday, but he will be out for this evening’s match, and Hakan Calhanoglu is set to start in midfield having missed the Sheriff match through an ankle knock.

The tweet reads: “Arturo Vidal will not be available to Simone Inzaghi in tonight’s match against Juventus due to slight flu-like symptoms that occurred this morning.”
