Legendary former Inter striker Sandro Mazzola feels that Inter remain the same team that they were under Antonio Conte despite having changed coaches in the summer.

Speaking to Italian news agency La Presse, as reported by FCInterNews, the 78-year-old gave the view that the Nerazzurri showed that they are still capable of defending the Scudetto with their performance against Juventus yesterday evening, while he also suggested that the penalty awarded to the Bianconeri towards the end was wrong.

Conte departed from Inter at the beginning of the summer, not long after he had managed to guide the club to their first Scudetto in eleven years.

Simone Inzaghi arrived from Lazio to take his place, and the new manager has been attempting to put his stamp on the team, but Mazzola believes that the positive qualities of Conte’s team are still in place.

Meanwhile, he felt that referee Maurizio Mariani was wrong to award a penalty yesterday evening.

“I have to tell the truth, I didn’t like the referee very much,” he stated. “The game doesn’t need so many machines and everything. There is little to do, it is the referee who decides and is there he looks.”

And on this Inter compared to Conte’s he said, “I don’t notice any differences. The mentality is always the same and this is what counts. Inter are always on track and I’m optimistic. We can defend this Scudetto, no doubt.”
