Inter have yet to really show that they can play a style of football which is strong in both attack and defense, as shown in their draw with Juventus on Sunday.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who argue that the Nerazzurri were not able to convince on both sides when they played against the Biancocelesti.

Inter had more of the initiative in the first half of Sunday’s Serie A clash, and took an early lead through an Edin Dzeko after the Bosnian reacted quickly to turn in the rebound of a Hakan Calhanoglu shot that had hit the post.

However, in the second half, the Nerazzurri looked to deny Juventus space and protect their slender advantage rather than pressing for a second goal.

Inter looked fairly effective at restricting the Biancocelesti from creating many telling chances, but they also offered next to nothing going forward.

In the end, the Biancocelesti found their equalizer through a controversial late penalty, but Inter had also failed to put the game to bed as they could not take advantage of the spaces left by Juventus when counterattacking.

At earlier points during the season Inter had looked like a strong attacking team who were conceding too many goals, by contrast, and coach Simone Inzaghi still has work to do finding the balance between attack and defense in a unified style.
