Inter are set to face off against Juventus in the Supercoppa Italiana on January 5, and the match will be held in Milan rather than in Saudi Arabia as had been initially anticipated.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the date and location for the fixture should be officially announced this week.

Saudi Arabia had had the option of hosting the competition but were held up as they had failed to settle the broadcasting rights for Serie A in time, though they could still host it next season.

December 22 was considered as a possible date for the match but was ruled out and January 5 is the date settled on.

This will mean that the Nerazzurri’s Serie A clash with Bologna scheduled for January 6 will be postponed, as will the Bianconeri’s with Napoli on the same day, with the two fixtures to be played at a later date.
