Inter wing-back Matteo Darmian is expecting a tough match against newly-promoted Empoli, but he knows that his team are motivated to recover from recent results in Serie A.

Speaking to InterTV prior to kickoff, Darmian explained that the Nerazzurri are aware that despite having only having come up this season the Tuscans have the quality to make life difficult for them, but that they are determined to get three points from the encounter.

Inter lost against Lazio in their first match back from the international break before being bitterly disappointed to concede a late equalizer from a controversial against Juventus on Sunday.

With only one point from their last two matches the Nerazzurri will see their trip to Tuscany to face Empoli as an opportunity to get back to winning ways, although Darmian is not taking the result for granted at all.

“I think it’s a very important match because we’ve fotten some negative results and today we want to take to the pitch and bring home the three points.”

Asked whether he thought it would be an easy match the wing-back responded, “No, absolutely not. They are a team that play good football. There will certainly be moments of difficulty but we will have to be good at suffering through them, remain compact and not lose our shape, and we must do the things we know how to do because the three points are fundamental today.”

Darmian also had a word about on-loan Inter striker Andrea Pinamonti who his team come up against, stating “We have a good relationship. Last year was an important year for everyone, including Andrea. We will greet each other, and when the referee blows the whistle we will not think about our friendship but everyone will think only of their team.”
