After the controversy of the weekend Inter bounced back with a win against Empoli away on Match Day 10 of Serie A at the Stadio Carlo Castellani.

The Nerazzurri held a clean sheet and scored twice thanks to Danilo D’Ambrosio and Federico Dimarco in either side of the halftime interval.

Samir Handanovic – 5.5: Only one save to make all night. Samir’s passing also left a lot to be desired tonight. Stayed rooted to his line and hoped for St. D’Ambrosio to save it.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – 7.5: Danilo proved once again that he is a great squad player who can be relied upon if the opponent is mid table or below. What a save and what a goal!

Stefan De Vrij – 6.5: Talked himself into a booking but overall, Stefan had a decent outing. Kept the ball moving and his positioning was perfect all throughout the game.

Alessandro Bastoni – 7: Bastoni had a much better outing today especially in defense. Made some good runs forward. The passing tonight was also reminiscent of 2020-21.

Matteo Darmian – 6.5: Matteo is always reliable, and Simone Inzaghi is utilizing him well. His runs caused trouble and when it was needed, his presence in defense was felt.

Nicolo Barella – 7: Continued his fine form. Nico always reads the game very well and today he was a step ahead of Empoli’s midfield. Needs to rest to keep him fresh.

Marcelo Brozovic – 6.5: From the start Empoli resorted to stopping Brozo by fouling him. Once he understood that he made sure he was always in space and made it count.

Roberto Gagliardini – 6.5: One of the 2 surprise starters tonight. Gagliardini had a decent game and certainly deserved a goal tonight. Has cut down the errors in his game.

Federico Dimarco – 7: As is now standard, Federico was absolutely top class on set pieces and scored a great team goal. In open play his final pass wasn’t the best tonight

Alexis Sanchez – 6.5: Struggled to get hold of the ball especially in the first half but when Alexis has it inside the box, he can make it count. Peach of an assist to D’Ambrosio.

Lautaro Martinez – 6.5: Lautaro looked out of form and made a lot of uncharacteristic mistakes especially in the first half. Great assist and hopefully that will feel positive.

Matias Vecino – 6.5: Good outing from the bench for Matias tonight. Made the most of his 20 mins or so. Always in space and helped Darmian control the flank. Impact.

Joaquin Correa – 5.5: Unlike Matias, Joaquin couldn’t really make the most of his time today. Still looks like he is getting back to full fitness and hopefully he does that soon.

Aleksandar Kolarov – 6: Another appearance for Senator Kolarov who had more than 10 mins and decent impact in the game. This time he played as a central defender.

Stefano Sensi – N/A: Good 10 minutes or so for Stefano and he even scored a goal that was ruled out for offside. Moved like the Sensi of old and hopefully he stays fit forever.

Edin Dzeko – N/A: Brought on to give Lautaro a break as the Argentine had run himself into the ground as usual. Didn’t have many chances to continue his scoring run.

Massimiliano Farris – 7.5: Almost perfect game plan against Empoli tonight. Substitutions were at the right moment and Inter looked in control. And they got the clean sheet!

Daniele Chiffi – 4.5: Blew his whistle a bit too much. All yellow cards for Inter players were too soft. The only decision he got 100% right was the red card. Poor overall.

Inter – 7: Finally, a clean sheet and a win. Inter needed to start building winning momentum heading into another crucial week and they did just that.
