Former Inter player Beppe Bergomi has suggested that Danilo D’Ambrosio is a more functional player than players in the squad, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking in the studios of Sky Sport after Inter’s 2-0 win over Empoli on Wednesday night in Serie A, Beppe Bergomi alluded to the value that Danilo D’Ambrosio brings over others in the team.

“D’Ambrosio is an excellent player. Now he has lost the starting position, but before he was more functional than other big names.”

It is not clear which players specifically that Beppe Bergomi is referring to but it certainly seems that he wants to see Danilo D’Ambrosio in the Inter starting eleven more frequently.

The Italian defender scored Inter’s opening goal of the match when he linked up excellently with Alexis Sanchez before heading into the back of the net.

Beppe Bergomi also had some praise for the Chilean forward as he had one of his better Inter displays since his move from Manchester United.

“Sanchez was convincing as an assist man. At first Inter suffered from the Empoli press, but then came out and played. ”

The second Inter goal was scored by Federico Dimarco.
