Inter defender Federico Dimarco is happy with the strength shown by the entire squad to get three points against Empoli in yesterday evening’s Serie A clash.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia after the match, the 23-year-old emphasized the importance of the entire collective in achieving the result that had been sought.

Dimarco got his second goal for his boyhood club as he continued his strong start to the season after returning from loan at Hellas Verona over the summer.

The defender also helped his team see out a clean sheet against a team who have shown that they can punish errors and lack of solidity, and the entire team looked confident as they got back to winning ways after one point from their past six matches.

Dimarco is satisfied with what was accomplished on the night and feels that the team can start to build momentum at the top end of the Serie A table.

“The draw with Juve gave hurt as we suffered from the penalty right at the end,” he said. “Today we approached it well, it was important to have won by bringing home the three points.

“We are a great group and we work hard every day to stay within reach of our rivals, it will be difficult but we certainly do not give up.”

He further reflected, “Honestly I did not expect to be a protagonist this season, but my hard work and everything else that I have sacrificed in recent years, is being rewarded.”
