Inter Sporting CEO Beppe Marotta has stated that the club is determined to defend the Scudetto that was won last season, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by Inter’s official website from the shareholders meeting, Beppe Marotta is immensely proud of his colleagues for helping deliver Inter’s 19th Serie A title during the 2020/21 campaign.

“Last season was the culmination of the excellent work we carried out. Winning a 19th Scudetto is reward for our owners’ strategic vision, passion and commitment to supporting us at all times.”

He also talked about what his aims were at the start of this cycle at the club, saying: “At the start of this cycle, our aim was to build a strong squad with a winning mentality capable of embodying a sense of belonging and the values that have always set this club apart.”

The Sporting CEO then went on to discuss how important it is that the club does everything in its power to retain the Serie A title this season despite the need to save money where possible.

“This year we have set ourselves the dual target of reducing costs while remaining competitive on the pitch.

“We know how difficult it will be to win the title again but we are determined to defend the Scudetto shield on our shirts with pride.”

Beppe Marotta was speaking from Inter’s shareholders meeting where losses of €245.6 million were recorded from last season. A staggering €110 million f that lost money can be attributed to the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic on the sport.
