Empoli head coach Aurelio Andreazzoli believes that his team had done a good job and were competitive against Inter up until they were reduced to ten men.

Speaking in a press conference, as reported by FCInterNews, the coach gave the view that up until Samuele Ricci was sent off his side were restricting the Nerazzurri.

Inter managed a comfortable 2-0 victory on their trip to Tuscany on Wednesday, finding the back of the net in the first half through Danilo D’Ambrosio before Federico Dimarco doubled their advantage midway through the second half.

However, the scoreline doesn’t tell the entire story, as they benefited from a straight red card which was given to Empoli midfielder Samuele Ricci for a lunging tackle on Nicolo Barella a few minutes into the second period.

During the second half the newly-promoted Tuscan team had looked to be well in the game at points, while the Nerazzurri were firmly in control with the man advantage, scoring the second and creating chances to score even more.

“The match against Inter showed that as long as we were at eleven against eleven we conceded little,” Andreazzoli reflected.
