Inter will still owe former head coach Antonio Conte the full severance pay specified by his contract even if he is to take over at Premier league club Tottenham Hotspur.

This according to Italian football finance news outlet Calcio e Finanza, who report that because Tottenham are not an Italian club, the Nerazzurri would not be relieved of the obligation to pay the 52-year-old’s severance pay.

Tottenham dismissed manager Nuno Espirito Santo earlier today and Conte is reportedly the main candidate to replace the Portuguese coach.

Conte left Inter at the beginning of the summer and he and the club agreed on a severance payment, with €17.37 million owed to the manager and the rest of his staff.

A condition of this payment is that should the former coach be appointed in a role at another Italian club before December 31 2021, then the amount would no longer by owed to the Italian.

However, since he looks set to take over at Tottenham, this will not affect Inter’s obligation to pay the full agreed-upon severance payment.
