Sheriff Tiraspol will be without midfielder Boba Nikolov when they host Inter in Wednesday’s key Champions League group stage clash, but should be able to count on defender Cristiano.

This according to the club’s head coach Yuriy Vernydub, speaking in a press conference as reported by FCInterNews, who gave an update about the availability of the two players ahead of the match in Moldova.

Inter got their first win of the Champions League when they beat Sheriff 3-1 at the San Siro a couple weeks ago, but they have it all to do again when they face the same opponents away this week.

The two teams are locked in a competitive group with Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk, and any points achieved in the clash will be potentially vital to qualification for the knockout rounds.

Vernydub expects it to be a tough match, but he believes in his squad’s qualities and also has clarity on the fitness of some key squad members.

“We understood that the away match was going to be tough,” he said. “The guys played some good football, especially in the first half. In the second half we acted according to the score, and now we will have another crucial match with Inter.”

He went on of his squad’s fitness, stating that “There are problems, of course. Boban Nikolov has some issues, I don’t think he will be able to recover but we’ll see. It will be difficult, but we’ll get out of this situation.”

And of Cristiano he stated that “Everything is fine. He is a fighter and a leader of the team, I am counting on him. I think everything will be fine.”
