Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia is expecting a tough match when the Nerazzurri come up agaisnt Sheriff Tiraspol later this evening.

Speaking to InterTV yesterday, the 33-year-old spoke about the threat posed by the Moldovan champions on the break and emphasized that the Nerazzurri must do it all over again despite having beaten them in their last encounter.

Inter defeated Sheriff 3-1 when the Champions League new boys visited the San Siro two weeks ago, putting in a strong display to comfortably take the three points.

However, the Moldovan team have already beaten Shakhtar Donetsk and Real Madrid in the group, and even in defeat showed flashes of their quality against Inter.

The Nerazzurri know that a win is important to take a step forwards towards qualifying for the knockout rounds of this year’s edition of Europe’s top competition and that a result is virtually necessary, and they know that tough opposition stand in their way.

“It will be a tough match,” Ranocchia stated. “Sheriff are a good team with quality individuals, we must face them as we did at the San Siro, conceding as little as possible to bring home the three points.”

“We need to pass the ball well and lose it as little as possible,” he went on, “because they are good at counterattacks, we have to score at least one more goal than them.”

He went on that “We have an important week ahead, but we must first think about winning tomorrow and then concentrate on Sunday’s derby.”

“We have found solidity by conceding little and we must continue on like this because we have the attacking players to always create something in front of the defense,” he concluded.
