Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia believes that his team have found a balance between attack and defense that was missing earlier in the campaign.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset ahead of the Nerazzurri’s match against Sheriff Tiraspol in the Champions League this evening, the 33-year-old spoke about the importance of this defensive balance and emphasized that they must keep working to maintain it.

Inter enjoyed an incredible start to the season at the attacking end of the pitch, and they still have the highest goal total in Serie A on the back of their goalscoring exploits from the first few matches.

The Nerazzurri still look formidable in attack, but what has changed is that they no longer concede goals at the rate that they had been earlier in the campaign.

Two consecutive clean sheets, and four matches without having conceded from open play, suggest that the Nerazzurri may well have put their major defensive frailties behind them.

“We have found a balance, especially when we attack. We have to keep going like this,” Ranocchia stated.

Of this evening’s match he said that “”We expect a match in which we have to keep the ball. We must not lose it because they are good on the counterattack.”
