Inter are going in search of two consecutive wins in the Champions League for the first time since 2018 when they face Sheriff Tiraspol in the competition this evening.

This is highlighted by Italian news outlet FCInter1908, who note that the last time that the Nerazzurri were able to win twice in a row in Europe’s top competition was when they beat Tottenham Hotspur and PSV Eindhoven three seasons ago.

The Nerazzurri have not managed to progress from the group stage of the Champions League at the past three times of asking, never showing consistent enough form in the competition.

This season they got off to a disappointing start by losing to Real Madrid before seeing out a goalless draw against Shakhtar Donetsk, but they got a foothold in the group with three points against Sheriff at the San Siro.

Should they beat the same opposition away, the Nerazzurri will have gotten two wins in a row to give oxygen to their hopes of reaching the knockout rounds and show that they can be at their best in the competition on a consistent basis.

The last away win which the Nerazzurri managed in the Champions League came against Borussia Monchengladbach last season, and they will hope that they can achieve an important one in Tiraspol this evening.
