Inter will approach this evening’s clash with Sheriff Tiraspol in the Champions League knowing that a win could be vital to their season.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who highlight the significance of the fixture to qualification for the knockout rounds of Europe’s top competition for the Nerazzurri.

Inter got a significant first win of this season’s Champions League group stage campaign when they beat Sheriff at the San Siro two weeks ago.

These three points gave them a foothold in their group, but they will have it all to do again when they face the Moldovan champions in their own stadium this evening.

Even a draw would not be a result which would give the Nerazzurri much oxygen, as they would still be behind both Sheriff and Real Madrid at the very least.

Accordingly, Inter must win the match if they are to put themselves in a strong position to qualify for the knockout rounds, something they have been unable to do at the past three times of asking.
