Inter could still face Juventus in the Supercoppa Italiana in Saudi Arabia, with Serie A CEO Luigi De Siervo set to fly to Ryadh next week to meet about the possibility.

This according to Italian football finance news outlet Calcio e Finanza, who report that the meeting will also include talks on a possible change of format to the competition to include four teams instead of two.

Currently, only two teams face off against one another in the Supercoppa, namely the winners of Serie A and the Coppa Italia of the previous season.

As Scudetto holders Inter will play in this year’s edition, while the Bianconeri play in the match as Coppa Italia winners.

However, the format could be changed to admit the runners-up from both competitions, to play in semi-finals and a final similar to how the Spanish teams currently contest their Super Cup competition.

As for this season’s edition of the competition, it remains to be seen if the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri will play in Saudi Arabia as had been planned at one point, or if they will contest the fixture in Italy.
