A former Inter coach has praised the midfield partnership that has been created at Inter between Marcelo Brozovic and Nicolo Barella, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Whilst speaking to Sky Sport, via FCInternews, Andrea Stramaccioni explained that Marcelo Brozovic is a key player for Inter and that he has matured a lot whilst in Italy.

“He is a key player, in my opinion he has matured in Italy, remember that he also played a World Cup final with Croatia.

“Today he embodies the modern deep midfielder, he has everything, both under construction and in interdiction: he is a very precious element of the squad.”

He then went on to say that the partnership he has in midfield with Nicolo Barella is valuable for Inter, and that the door is open for someone to make the third slot in midfield their own.

“The couple he makes up with Barella is phenomenal, then there is an open casting for the third jersey as a starter: Calhanoglu is ahead, but Vidal is a crazy player when he is well.”

Andrea Stramaccioni also passed comment on ex-Inter boss Antonio Conte’s move to Tottenham Hotspur this week, which becomes his first job since leaving the Nerazzurri in the summer.

“It’s a cashier’s check, you always collect it. Tottenham experienced the post-Pochettino period as a transition period, something went wrong. The coach arrives with clear ideas, the best choice could not be made.”

The praise of Marcelo Brozovic is unfortunately timed as many reports suggest a new contract agreement between him and Inter is not going to happen any time soon.
