Former Inter goalkeeper Tommaso Berni has suggested that Marcelo Brozovic is comparable to Italian great Andrea Pirlo, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking to Radio Sportiva, via FCInter1908, ahead of the Derby della Madonnina, Tommaso Berni reflected on the importance of Marcelo Brozovic to the current Inter squad.

“He is a fantastic person, he is always on the move and we don’t know how he manages to do it since he does not physically stand out. In terms of technique and personality, he is comparable to Pirlo. Inter now have great awareness of their means.”

The Croatian midfielder is now looking like his time at the club will come to an end in 2022 as his contract will expire and his wage demands are now too high for Inter to meet.

Tommaso Berni also talked about the quality of Simone Inzaghi as a coach and the relationship that the two have from their time together at Lazio.

“With Inzaghi, I spent wonderful years at Lazio, he knew about football and I was not surprised to see him as coach, I’m happy for him.”

The final topic that Tommaso Berni discussed was that of former Inter coach Antonio Conte, who is now in charge of Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

He left Inter in the summer after the financial issues became apparent.

“Great challenge, I see him doing very well because I know what he is capable of, it will take time but I am convinced that it is a great choice.”
