Inter defender Milan Skriniar is happy to have gotten the needed result after his side’s convincing 3-1 win over Sheriff Tiraspol in the Champions League yesterday evening.

Speaking to InterTV, the Slovak defender expressed his satisfaction at the result which gives the Nerazzurri a major foothold in their Champions League group, and also looked ahead to Sunday’s Milan derby.

Inter had gotten their first win of the group stage of this year’s edition of the Champions League against Sheriff two weeks ago, but they had it all to do again as they faced the Moldovan champions at their home ground.

In the end, the Nerazzurri produced the performance that was needed to secure a deserved 3-1 win and lift the team to second spot in the group, two points behind group leaders Real Madrid but a point ahead of Sheriff now.

Skriniar was glad to manage this result, and hopes to carry the momentum from the win over into the weekend’s massive first Milan derby.

“Tonight we took three points of great significance,” he said. “It’s a very important victory. We knew it could be decisive, we managed to win it and now we want to move forward.”

Asked if he wanted to dedicate his goal, the Nerazzurri’s second, he stated that “I definitely dedicate it to my daughter.”

And of the upcoming derby he stated that “It’s always a tough game, Milan are having a good season, we need to be focused and we hope to win.”
