Italian journalist Paolo Condo has proclaimed that Inter have finally learnt how to get out of the group stages of the Champions League, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media last night.

Speaking in the Sky Sport studios after the match against FC Sheriff, Paolo Condo explained that Inter are now in an excellent position to qualify for the next round of the Champions League despite it not being mathematically assured.

“Inter have finished Erasmus. They have learned to stay in Europe and the 6 points against Sheriff are much less trivial than they may seem.

“They did what they had to do, what they did in the past editions of the Champions League did not work. The passage of progression is not yet mathematical, but it has excellent chances.”

Inter only had one point from two games when they went into the double header against Moldovan side FC Sheriff. The Nerazzurri simply had to win both matches to keep their hopes alive.

They have now done exactly that by winning 3-1 at San Siro two weeks ago, and 3-1 again last night in Tiraspol.

Simone Inzaghi’s side are now second in the group with FC Sheriff one point behind them. A win over Shakhtar Donetsk will likely prove decisive.
