Former Lazio midfielder Marco Parolo has been shedding light on the time he spent working with Inter coach Simone Inzaghi, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

Speaking during an interview with Corriere dello Sport, Marco Parolo explained that he was surprised to see Simone Inzaghi perform as well as he did during his five years coaching Lazio until 2021.

“It was a surprise to see how much he has improved in five years at Lazio. Resisting for so long in a complicated environment like that of Rome was not easy, but he succeeded and carried out an important cycle also made up of trophies won.”

Marco Parolo was asked what he liked most about working with Simone Inzaghi, and he felt it was the harmonious atmosphere that the boss creates in the dressing room and with every player in the squad.

“The ability to put you at ease, to involve and pamper you. He is a technician who brings out the best in all his men and in the locker room no one spoke badly of him. Not even those who played little.”

There was one criticism that Marco Parol had for Simone Inzaghi though, and that is his tendency to get too caught up in the action on the pitch and not stay level headed.

“Sometimes he got too caught up in the game. Being instinctive is, at the same time, his strength and his flaw.”

Inter face AC Milan in the Derby della Madonnina on Sunday evening and Marco Parolo believes that winning is much more important for Inter given the league table.

“Very funny, but at the same time I think he will feel a bit of tension given the importance of the three points. Especially for Inter. Milan, being +7, can afford a false step, the Nerazzurri cannot.

“With pride they will want to prove that they are the Italian champions, but the Rossoneri are now aware of their strength. They will not be in awe.”
